Who is Donna Vekic

Donna Veki, a professional tennis player and entrepreneur from Croatia, was born on June 28, 1996. At the 2014 Malaysian Open, the 2017 Nottingham Open, and the 2021 Courmayeur Ladies Open, she won three singles championships on the WTA Tour.

On the ITF Circuit, she has also won five singles championships and one doubles title. Her greatest singles results were in the 2019 US Open and the 2023 Australian Open, when she advanced to the quarterfinals.

She reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 19 in November 2019. She is often considered as the Hottest Tennis Player.

How did the career of Donna start?

Veki, a member of the Croatia Fed Cup squad, was born in Osijek. She participated in three rubbers in the competition in February 2012, helping her nation defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0.

Veki reached her first WTA Tour final at the Tashkent Open. She made her debut main-draw participation there, where she became the event’s youngest finalist in six years. She was, however, beaten in straight sets by Irina-Camelia Begu.

What is the playing style of Donna?

Veki is a baseliner with aggressiveness. She has a strong first serve that may result in aces and has been clocked at up to 111 mph (178 km/h), albeit this measurement is sometimes erroneous, therefore her usual first serve percentages are between 50 and 60 percent.

She compensates for this with a dependable second serve, making double errors rare. Her forehand, which is struck hard, flat, and quickly, is her best weapon. Her strong groundstrokes allow her to control play from the baseline.

She makes a considerable amount of both wins and unforced errors as a result of her rapid and aggressive style of play. She moves with great speed and footwork and is a quick learner.

Veki’s increased success in recent years has been a result of her changing her game style away from only aggressive play, to more deliberately constructing points, and honing her defensive abilities. Veki is skilled at counterpunching due to her movement and stamina until she can create an opportunity to hit a winner.

The majority of Veki’s success has been achieved on fast hard and grass courts, which are well suited to her rapid and quick style of play.

She suffers against aggressive all-court players that play with variety, such Ashleigh Barty, Iga Witek, and Anastasija Sevastova, as well as slower courts like clay courts. These are her three main areas of weakness.

What does Donna do outside tennis?

Beyond tennis, Veki launched DNNA in 2021, a high-end home fragrance line that sells beeswax candles and reed diffusers. She said that a part of all sales proceeds will be given to help preserve bees in her home Croatia.
